Croix Bethune set the NWSL single-season assist record against the Washington Spirit, the club where she first matched the previous mark. Her 17th-minute pass to Vanessa DiBernardo produced the winning goal in Kansas City’s 2-1 victory on October 25. The assist was Bethune’s 11th of the season, moving her past the old high of 10, Just Women’s Sports reported. U.S. Soccer’s recap also recorded the milestone.

Tobin Heath set the 10-assist mark in 2016. Bethune matched it as a Washington rookie in 2024, making the two players the previous co-holders. Washington was the club where Bethune reached the mark, not the other record-holder. After moving to Kansas City, she surpassed it against the Spirit.

Bethune said the record was on her mind: “I was thinking about it a lot because I wanted to break that record really bad,” she told Just Women’s Sports. Her record-setting assist came in a match-winning moment, against the team for which she had first tied the mark.

The 11 assists also sit within a larger run of production: Just Women’s Sports reports Bethune has 23 regular-season assists across her first three professional seasons. U.S. Soccer likewise described the October 25 assist as her 23rd career assist.
